Rome is an amazing place to visit as a tourist, thousands of years of history are scattered all around this beautiful city. There are some amazing iconic buildings, picturesque piazzas and of course some great restaurants. Via Nazionale is one such area that is located right in the heart of the capital.
 Via Nazionale (in English National Road) is one of the main arteries that goes through the historic centre of Rome. Originally named Via Pia, after the Blessed Pope Pius IX, who wanted to create a main thoroughfare that connected the main train train Station, Termini, to the city centre. Today, Via Nazionale is a popular shopping street for the locals and tourists alike. You will find all types of shops, cafes and restaurants along this 1-kilometre stretch of road. The road also has excellent transport connections, with several major bus routes passing by for in the direction of the Vatican, Piazza Navona, Isola Tiberina, etc, as well as the Repubblica metro station to the northside.



Rough distances from Via Nazionale to several of Rome's attractions: Trevi Fountain: 0.9 kilometres, Spanish Steps: 1.1 kilometres, Colosseum: 1.2 kilometres, Navona Square: 1.7 kilometres and St. Peter's Basilica & Vatican: 3.3 kilometres.
